First Step Meal Policy

Guidelines

  1. Regular tiffin from home: If the parents have not opted for meals from school, they must send the child’s tiffin (proper breakfast / lunch) regularly to ensure that child’s wellbeing.
  2. Allergies: If the child is allergic to any food / food products, the parent must inform about the same to the Center Head at the time of admission.
  3. No milk / milk products/ processed food: Discover First Step does not provide milk / milk products or any kind of processed and packaged foods to its students. Parents need to provide them separately if in case child consumes the same.
  4. Customized Food for Infants: In case the child’s age is less than 12 months, the Center Head needs to be contacted by the parent for a customized food menu.
  5. Variations in Child’s appetite: The management and the school staff is committed to serving freshly cooked, healthy meals to its students. In situations when the child does not eat the served meal properly (not hungry, does not want to eat during lunch time, not interested), it will be reported to the parent by the concerned teacher.
  6. Alternate feeding approach: We use an alternate approach for feeding children during meal time, where teachers and helper staff support children in eating and finishing meals. This approach helps reduce dependency of children on one adult and, also helps them to develop the habit of eating independently.
  7. Focus on a wholesome and balanced diet: Growing children need a healthy, wholesome diet to meet their growth requirement to stay healthy. We at Discover First Step design our meal planner keeping this crucial point in mind and would recommend that the same approach should be followed at home referring to a balanced diet chart for children.
  8. In sync with government policies and guidelines: Discover First Step strictly follows and adheres to the guidelines issued by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, for purchasing, storage, cooking and cleaning of food and utensils.
  9. No HFSS (High in Fat, Salt and Sugar) food is served or promoted by Discover First Step Preschool.
  10. Diverse, simple yet wholesome meals: At Discover First Step, our children’s meal menu is carefully designed to ensure that our students receive well balanced and nutritious diet to support their growth and development. We offer a diverse menu prepared daily on the premises by our skilled kitchen team, encompassing flavors from the East, West, North and South.

Our ever-evolving menu covers all four major food groups and utilizes only the freshest quality ingredients, including fresh vegetables & fruits. This ensures that children at DFS will receive not only well-balanced, nutritious meals but also high quality, fresh, natural ingredients.

Meal Time Routine

  2. Hand Wash Before and After Meals: All the students, teachers and helper staff involved in the process of cooking, serving and eating the meals follow the routine of washing hands before and after meals to ensure hygiene.
